March 13, 2026

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — University of Richmond School of Law Dean Wendy Perdue was presented with a Senate Joint Resolution earlier this month.

The resolution, which was introduced by Senator Richard Stuart, a UR law school alum, recognizes Perdue for “15 years of visionary leadership and outstanding contributions to legal education.” Perdue will conclude her 15-year tenure as the Richmond School of Law dean at the end of this academic year. She will remain on the faculty and return to teaching following a sabbatical.

“Wendy Perdue joined the University of Richmond School of Law as dean in 2011, and the institution has flourished under her thoughtful, steady leadership,” the resolution notes highlighting several of Perdue’s major contributions, including:

  • Overseeing the implementation of a renowned first-year legal writing program and the Professional Identity Formation Program, which have become models for other institutions nationwide.
  • Helping establish the Bridge to Practice Program, which has helped more than 150 law graduates launch their careers.
  • Leading the law school through significant renovations, transforming the building into a modern facility that better meets the needs of its students and community.
  • Engaging with alumni, members of the legal community, and other stakeholders to support the law school's commitment to excellence through enhanced networking and fundraising programs.

Senate Joint Resolution No. 125 honoring Perdue, which can be read in full here, has been passed by both the Virginia Senate and the House of Delegates.
