Dieter Gunkel, assistant professor of historical linguistics in the classical studies department, teaches a course on syntax, which informed his Back to Class Q&A Put in a good word for ... words in April 2021. Gunkel's areas of expertise include: Historical and Indo-European linguistics; Greek and Latin linguistics; Metrics and poetics; and Vedic.
