Bertram Ashe

Bert Ashe, a professor of English, researches late 20th-century and early 21st-century literature and culture. His 2015 book Twisted: My Dreadlock Chronicles explores issues of Black male identity, the Black vernacular culture, and Black hair by narrating the journey of locking his hair, and it explores the history and cultural resonances of the dreadlock hairstyle in America.
