Mindfulness

Monti Datta

Monti Datta, a political science professor and co-leader of a faculty learning community on mindfulness, can offer tips on how to use mindfulness as a tool for dealing with the uncertainty and stress of COVID-19.

Datta can share how to be more present in the moment, calm the mind when distracting thoughts occur, and how to close a short meditation session with the practice of loving kindness, which western science now supports as an effective health intervention.

"Mindfulness is not only a tool of stress reduction, but also a way to tune into one’s self and find a way to sit gently with even uncomfortable feelings as they arise. This includes working the breath as a tool to ground and anchor one’s self in the present moment."
