Career Advice

Becca Shelton

Becca Shelton is a career advisor at the University of Richmond. She can provide advice to those looking for employment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"If you’re uncertain of your employment situation right now, take a little time to learn a new skill or two. So many sites are now offering free online learning tools, so if there’s something new you’ve been wanting to learn, set aside a little time. It may pay dividends in a few months. You can also use this time to keep up with and meet new professional contacts. LinkedIn has a slew of ways to find new contacts to add to your professional circles. Above all else, remind yourself often that this too shall pass. Whatever your current situation, it is only temporary. On the hard days, lean on your support system for comfort and reassurance."
