Lyme disease symptoms could be mistaken for COVID-19, with serious consequences
Associate Professor of Biology Jory Brinkerhoff, an expert on ticks, authored this piece.
Jory Brinkerhoff, a biology professor and disease ecologist, has studied infectious diseases from a variety of angles. Brinkerhoff can speak to superspreaders, an individual who is unusually contagious and more likely to infect others, and the reproductive number (aka "R" Number), which refers to the transmission potential of a particular infectious disease.
"My epidemiology class and I watched COVID-19 closely and discussed it nearly every day," said Brinkerhoff.
His class is also working through math models of disease, and he can discuss that area of study generally.
